CIVIL SOCIETY UNMUTED COALITION SA CONDEMNS THE BRUTAL MURDER OF ANTI-CRIME ACTIVIST THATO MOLOSANKWE
Civil Society Unmuted Coalition SA expresses deep shock, sadness, and outrage at the brutal killing of anti-crime activist and community leader, Thato Molosankwe, who was gunned down at his home in Lomanyaneng village near Mahikeng on 20 May 2026.
Mr Molosankwe dedicated his life to fighting crime, corruption, gender-based violence, substance abuse, and social injustice within communities. His activism and commitment to protecting vulnerable people made him a respected voice in society and a symbol of hope to many South Africans.
We strongly condemn this senseless act of violence and call on law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible are urgently apprehended and brought to justice. The assassination of activists and community leaders threatens not only individual lives but also the safety, democracy, and social stability of our country.
We further caution against the spread of misinformation and divisive narratives surrounding Mr Molosankwe’s life and work. At this stage, no official evidence has been presented to support false claims circulating on social media. We encourage the public to rely on verified information and allow the investigation process to unfold without political manipulation or racial incitement.
Civil Society Unmuted Coalition SA stands in full solidarity with the Molosankwe family, friends, colleagues, and the Mahikeng community during this painful period. We mourn the loss of a courageous activist who dedicated himself to uplifting communities and advocating for a safer South Africa.
As civil society, we reaffirm our commitment to continue speaking out against violence, intimidation, criminality, and attacks on community activists across the country.
May his soul rest in peace!
